About who needs care: Parent has dementia, cant walk to the bathroom or get himself out of bed. Takes numerous medicines in the morning and evening.
Hobbies include watching western tv shows or movies, visiting with people about the old days, eating food. He loves chocolate ice cream sandwiches and apple juice.
An ideal day for him would be to sit next to his wife, watch westerns and go for rides around town. He does love to pet his dog outside a lot too if the weather is warm.
About the care needs: Somebody who has thick skin and doesn't take things personally as his dementia can sometimes make him grumpy and say things he doesn't mean and also somebody who is active enough to lift, and walk him around wherever he needs to go and to also bathe him.
Somebody who is able to carry on a conversation and be a good listener and somebody who also speaks louder.
I think whatever their hobbies or interests are, is up to them. You will mostly be sitting by him until he has to go potty, go outside, eat, or get dressed.
Services needed include: transportation, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
