My life has provided me the opportunities to live in various locations across the US, but last year, I decided to relocate to my home town, Fort Worth. I was employed with International Leadership of Texas for the school year (2017-2018) as the Dyslexia Facilitator, but I miss the flexibility of tutoring privately. I will be seeking to register students to start tutoring beginning in August 2018 through 2019. I'm a Texas Certified teacher who teaches reading to those students who struggle with reading and I'm especially interested in those students who are young and whose parents recognize a lack of desire to read, resist reading, have trouble connecting sounds to letters or just seem to need more attention than you can provide. The earlier you can start tutoring, the better to prevent bad habits, attitudes and low confidence. I work with students as young as 4 through age 13 in ways that are hands on, partner reading using leveled books and also computer games when applicable.

I have over 20 years of experience in teaching reading to children and adults. I have also taught at the college level instructing teachers in the art of teaching reading. I love working with younger children who are trying to get a good start but struggling. I enjoy all ages. I would love to get back into working with students again in reading. I'm retired, but lively and enjoy people!

As an elementary teacher with 22 years of experience I have worked with children in grades Pre-K through 6th grade. Additionally, I teach reading courses to undergrad and graduate students. In order for a student to be successful in reading one must identify given strengths and areas for growth. I can assess and provide support in order to facilitate necessary skills so that confidence is gained and academics can continually improve. Of course the ultimate goal is a life long love of reading!

For the last 3 years, I have been tutoring online to students in California in an RTI (Response to Intervention) program in both reading and math. I spent 2 years tutoring elementary students that were identified as having problems with reading and math in Rose Tree Media School District. Before that, I spent 13 years as an English teacher and Reading Specialist at Hill Top Preparatory School in Rosemont that specializes in "special needs learning."

I was a Team Read tutor through my school for two years and was fairly successful. It was a great way to connect with the next generation and was a positive experience.
