About who needs care: My mother had an eye surgery two weeks ago and her sight has not yet come back. She can see the outline of things but nothing specific and she is not able to drive. She actually gets around fairly well on her own just by feeling, but she isn't allowed to bend so she is unable to do certain things. She still smokes and rolls her own cigarettes. She is on oxygen at night and takes some other medications and eyedrops throughout the day. She would benefit from someone coming to check in on her in the am to make sure she has breakfast, takes her meds, do a few other simple tasks around the house. Then coming back in the evening for an hour or two to make sure she can access her dinner, meds and do a few more tasks. She may also need rides to doctor appointments.
About the care needs: No specialized skills are needed. She is very friendly, enjoys people, but enjoys her alone time. She is fiercely independent and persnickety about how things need to be done. So, a caregiver who has the desire to oblige her, someone with a good sense of humor, and is patient, is a good fit.
Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
