My primary experience with individuals with developmental disabilities have been with children/young adults ages 4-18 in a variety of settings include a middle school classroom, personal home care, residential care, and on a locked unit in a psychiatric hospital. Although, I do have some experience working with adults. I have worked as a 1:1 and group leader with a variety of physical, mental, and emotional disabilities along a broad spectrum with conditions including, but not limited to, Autism, Down's Syndrome, Asperger's, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, etc. I have worked with children with mild-severe behavioral disorders, and I tend to focus on positive reinforcement and activities to improve communication skills in order to support this populations social development and increase independent living.
