I find care for those with special needs to be incredibly fulfilling. I volunteered at a therapeutic riding center on and off for many years. That experience gave me opportunities to work with a variety of special needs individuals from all age groups. My special needs care began with care for my 50-year-old great aunt with DS. This sparked my passion for this type of care. I have since worked for a family of 3 children including a 6-year-old with developmental delays, served as a PCA for an individual with a severe neuromuscular degenerative disorder, provided respite care for an individual with brain damage, and have cared for children and adults with various levels of disability. I have experience with feeding tubes, ADL assistance, bathroom/shower assistance, aggressive behavior, and nonverbal communication. I have significant experience with children on the Autism spectrum. I can provide assisted swim, assisted skiing, range of motion, and help reaching other therapeutic goals.
