What is the going rate for a 14year old mothers helper with a baby?
I am hiring a friends daughter for two days a week. 8 hrs a week. I work from home and will be here while she is here. What is the going rate for that. I am living in Massachusetts. Thanks!
17 per hour
What is the minimum wage in Massachusetts? I would go with a number around there. Because she is young, she probably doesn't have a ton of experience, and if you will be present, it doesn't sound like she has a ton of responsibility. In PA I make about $10/hr for similar gigs, but I have 7 years of experience and would be totally fine making less than that if the mother is there and it isn't a long day of work (minimum wage is $7.25/hr here and I'd accept around $8/hr for this type of job). Hope this helps!
I would say less than the average for your city for two reasons. First she is very young and probably has little experience and no extra qualifications like CPR. Second, you will be there. You can find range of salaries for your area on salary.com - you can type in location, number of kids, extra duties you want to ask for, etc and the site will give you a range that is appropriate.
not sure about the rates in Massachusetts
Good for you for starting a babysitters career early, I would personally say $2 above your areas minimum wage. Babysitting is still a very important job with huge responsibilites
Maybe a flat rate for the 2 days.. like $100 a week
I would do a rate of 10 dollars per hour.
usually around $10/hr
I would say name your own price based on experience- I would think $10 an hour though.
