My cousin is autistic and mildly retarded and I have provided care for her on several occasions. I really enjoy spending one on one time with her. I realized what a special person she is and how lucky I am that she is my cousin. She always amazes me with some of the things that she does. She is capable of anything if she puts her mind to it. I have taught her how to do a lot of things, but she also teaches me a lot. She gives me a different perspective on life and that is what I find rewarding about caring for those with special needs. I am looking for a part-time position for a few hours (2-6) at a time so the family can run errands or go to dinner and a movie.
