I have about 7 years experience working with the special needs population. I assist with ADL's and cooking, cleaning, appointments, and shopping. I am CPR/first aid certified. I love my job in direct care but feel I need a change of pace. I enjoy working with people and I feel that working with a family or an individual could provide me with the fun relaxed atmosphere that has started to decline in my current job. The individuals have a right to voice opinions and make choices... the right to make their own choices is not totally there's anymore. I love to interact with the individual when they are free to say and do what they want to, it makes it more fun for both myself and the individual when that person has all their rights and freedoms and are not bound by state regulations The individual should be able to choose if they want to eat pizza for dinner and watch a movie. The individual should feel free to laugh with and joke around and feel relaxed around their caregiver.
