In 2008 I nannied for a year for a baby born with a bilateral cleft lip and palette. Duties included cleaning of medical apparatus used to prepare cleft for surgeries, changing of tape on apparatus and cleaning of surgical site after procedures. Regular routines with the infant included feedings with a unique bottle, bathing, cloth diaper changes, walks, social gatherings with other babies. Other duties performed included doing dishes, vacuuming, dusting, washing cloth diapers and other light housecleaning. In 2009 I attended college and began courses in pre-nursing. This included a certified nursing assistant (CNA) course. Training for CNA included first-aid, CPR, blood pressure readings, elderly care, feeding patients, moving patients from bed to wheelchair, sponge baths, bathing, adult diaper changes, bed position movement and assistance with other various patient needs. Starting in 2011, I worked for three and a half years for a private elementary school as a teacher's aide and coordinator of the after school care program. I assisted teachers and students in the classroom with math, reading, social studies, science, etc. I was also a playground and lunch room monitor and was responsible for around 30 children at any given time. My after school care position was a lot of fun. Two other child care providers worked with me as we provided licensed child care for 10-30 kids after school. During this role I received first-aide and CPR training several times. I also obtained my teachers license as a child care provider through the department of early learning. Snack was served and I do have a valid food handlers license. Healthy, nourishing food is one of my passions so I find it important to teach that to children, as well! Activities for the program included group activity time, group play, outside play, homework time, snack time, occasional movie days, nature walks and park days. Exercise is one of my other hobbies and I like to get out there and play with the kids! It's fun and healthy for everyone!
