Special Needs Services

I have worked in the early childhood field for 18 years. This has covered a vast array of experiences, from owning my own child care facility, working in traditional and non-tradition child care, to working as a respite care worker and nanny. I am presently on call for a family that I have been a nanny for two years. Their son was 3 when I started with the family, that was 10 years ago. The child that I was working with has Autism. I provided routines and a safe environment both in and at of the home. I transported him to speech and physical therapy where I observed. I gained the knowledge that it took to work with him through therapy and volunteering at his pre-school. I soon implemented applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy program at his home and worked with him every day. I also recently worked as a nanny from March 2006 to December 2006. I cared for two children ages 8 months and 4 years. I transported the children to doctor's appointments and was proactive in the children's food allergies (8-month-old) and asthma (4-year-old). Through this family, I learned how to use an inhaler, nebulizer and medications, both traditional and non-traditional medication. I volunteered at an Elementary school to care for children ages 3 to 5 years. I assisted in the integrated preschool. I observed the speech and physical therapist to gain further knowledge to help me understand Autism better. I volunteered at a High School where I supervised children/adults, 16 to 21 years, who have disabilities. I guided students with computer literacy, life skills, building self esteem, job searches, college enrollment and assisted teachers. I also volunteered with my peers who have disabilities while I attended high school in 1986.

Hello. My name is Susan and I am an experienced childcare worker. I have been a nanny for the past 3 years for a family that is moving out of state next week and I cannot go with them due to my own family that lives close by me. I have 3 grown children of my own and 4 Grandchildren whom I spend most of my spare time with. My nanny duties include caring for the two boys, making sure they get to and from school, sport events, parties, etc. I also clean the house everyday, whatever needs to be done each day. Laundry, making the beds are usually and everyday chore to do as well as the dishes and just general cleaning. I have worked with children for the past 15 years starting with my in-home-daycare for 6 years. After I closed my daycare, due to my own children grown and not at home anymore, I decided to get my Associates degree in early childhood development, besides my AA degree, I have completed many STARS (State Training and Registry Systems) classes, and workshops. I have taken a year classes in special needs, I have my up-to-date CPR card, first aid, and blood borne, and a copy of my background check. I have my own transportation with a great driving record, and I am honest, compassionate, and caring. I like to go for walks, to the park, cook with children (age appropriate of course), and just fun for children and keeping them safe and happy are my number one goals. I have excellent references. Thank you.

Licensed Child Care Provider Available Part-Time, As Needed, And On Short Notice.

In 2008 I nannied for a year for a baby born with a bilateral cleft lip and palette. Duties included cleaning of medical apparatus used to prepare cleft for surgeries, changing of tape on apparatus and cleaning of surgical site after procedures. Regular routines with the infant included feedings with a unique bottle, bathing, cloth diaper changes, walks, social gatherings with other babies. Other duties performed included doing dishes, vacuuming, dusting, washing cloth diapers and other light housecleaning. In 2009 I attended college and began courses in pre-nursing. This included a certified nursing assistant (CNA) course. Training for CNA included first-aid, CPR, blood pressure readings, elderly care, feeding patients, moving patients from bed to wheelchair, sponge baths, bathing, adult diaper changes, bed position movement and assistance with other various patient needs. Starting in 2011, I worked for three and a half years for a private elementary school as a teacher's aide and coordinator of the after school care program. I assisted teachers and students in the classroom with math, reading, social studies, science, etc. I was also a playground and lunch room monitor and was responsible for around 30 children at any given time. My after school care position was a lot of fun. Two other child care providers worked with me as we provided licensed child care for 10-30 kids after school. During this role I received first-aide and CPR training several times. I also obtained my teachers license as a child care provider through the department of early learning. Snack was served and I do have a valid food handlers license. Healthy, nourishing food is one of my passions so I find it important to teach that to children, as well! Activities for the program included group activity time, group play, outside play, homework time, snack time, occasional movie days, nature walks and park days. Exercise is one of my other hobbies and I like to get out there and play with the kids! It's fun and healthy for everyone!
