Hired her for four months 2-3 hrs/wk - $40/hr. During the school year, I asked her to oversee homework in English and History. Not sure if she did a good job. She said that she'd write up a summer curriculum and send for review. She didn't. Anyway, I asked her to work on reading passages and writing essays during class and to assign vocabulary and grammar as homework. She spent the classes on vocabulary (memorizing, writing sentences) and grammar for the next two months. I asked her again to assign those as homework and work on writing instead. She still spent most of the class on vocabulary. She started picking sentences from a book and asked to figure out the meaning of a word from context. Just the word, no reading comprehension. She spent a minority of the time on essay writing and gave the option to either do some reading or write an essay for homework. I had trusted her since she is a school teacher. Not sure why she did this, but I'm sorry I wasted my money on her lessons.
