About who needs care: My wife, Nita, has mid-stage dementia. She is 78 and has been active and fit her whole life. She loves walks in the neighborhood with our dog. She has been a life-long reader, but her ability to read now is diminished. She watches the news during the day. She needs help with bathing, getting dressed, meal preparation, laundry and dishes. I rise around 5:30 a.m. and she is often awake then. If she is awake I bring her a morning coffee. Our present caregiver comes around 6:30 a.m. and that seems to be good timing. About the care needs: The current caregiver is young and that is probably not idea, but Nita doesn't make issue of it. I personally believe someone a little older with similar interests might be better. Nita is easy to get along with (if you are not her husband!) - not demanding and not judgmental. Nita would do well with someone who is compassionate, not just with Nita, but with humanity in general. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
