How to Raise Good Kids: 6 Signs You Lucked Out With Your Child

There are lots of different factors involved in learning how to raise good kids. On the one hand, it’s your job to instill your little one with a solid set of important core values. But your child’s environment and personal characteristics shape him into the adult he will become as well!

Here are six signs that you’ve got a real sweetie on your hands:

  1. Your Child Respects the Boundaries You’ve Given Him
You know you’ve lucked out with a great kid when he follows the rules you set — for the most part, at least. While you can now appreciate the little things, like the fact that your child never watches the shows you deem to be too inappropriate, the guidelines you teach him will play an even larger role in the years to come. It’s important to know that you can trust your child to make the right decisions when it comes to tackling the big things such as peer pressure.

  2. Your Child’s Teacher Tells You That She Wishes There Were More Students Like Your Little One in Her Class
Is your child a cooperative student who pays attention during class, demonstrates personal leadership and always volunteers to help out? Then her teacher probably sings her praises on a regular basis, and nothing could make you feel prouder of your little one. Today’s classroom leader can transform into tomorrow’s boardroom leader, so your child is on the right track to success.

  3. Your Child Goes Out of His Way to Help Others
From holding the door open for others to helping the checkout clerk bag groceries, your child actively seeks out ways to make someone’s day a little bit better. And he doesn’t do it simply to win an award or get some kind of recognition! He serves others simply because he knows that it will help to make the world a better place to live.

  4. Your Child Surrounds Herself With Other Great Kids
According to Jim Rohn, a famous motivational speaker, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” As such, your child’s choice in friends plays a big role in her overall life and demeanor. If your little one takes it upon herself to befriend loyal, kind, well-mannered and good-tempered kids, you can take comfort in the fact that this group will encourage all of its members to be the best versions of themselves. These types of kids pride themselves on doing excellent work, helping others and resolving their problems in a mature way.

  5. Your Child Is Polite and Well-Mannered
You don’t have to constantly remind your little one to say her pleases and thank yous. Her good manners are already ingrained in her! And she understands how to have a conversation with adults (as in, she doesn’t interrupt you when you’re speaking).

  6. Your Child Is Inclusive and Seeks Out Friendship With Children of Different Ages and Abilities
Your little one is very aware of what’s going on around him and always seems to sense when others are feeling left out. He’s the first to welcome a new student to his classroom and he always finds ways to play with children of different physical or cognitive abilities.
