1) When you first started, how long did it take for you to get responses? 2) Did you find it was competitive within your area and what did you do to stand out? 3) And do you have any additional suggestions?
Hello Care.com community. I am new to the site and have completed my profile, asked friends and family for character references and background check is all clear. I have applied for jobs and have yet to get any responses - though it's been less than 24 hours. Patience I know. :)
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
I continue to update my availability and apply for jobs. Suggestions? Upgrade, if you can.
Hello! You did not mention if you had upgraded your membership. I found when I first created my profile it took quite a few times of applying to jobs before I received any responses. It was then that I realized you cannot answer directly to the messages without upgrading to Premium. The same is true for the person who created the job post. So..when you are applying for jobs, note whether or not the person who posted the job is a premium member when applying. It makes a difference. As soon as I upgraded I got responses back right away. Then once you are settled in with your client(s) you can always cancel your monthly subscription. I wish it were not necessary, but I am afraid that was the only way I got anywhere here. Good luck to you!
First question: sometimes it takes only a few days to get a response from a potential client sometimes it takes about a week. Second question: I just speak the truth about myself. Third question: Constantly be checking for new job postings, they are updated all the time. I am always checking every few hours or so to see if there are new postings.
Didn't take long, maybe a week or so. You just have to keep at it everyday and do follow up messages in case someone missed yours. That always works for me.
Keep going and don't give up ,Make sure you sound open but not to available. don't stop sending out messages & stay active .
I have only been on Care.com site for a short time but this is my 2nd time to try it since August. I have been on less than a month this time and already secured 2 clients for recurring housecleaning services. Both are very pleased, 1 gave me a nice review (jeff V. - see my review page), the other one I just did services for earlier this week but she has rescheduled upcoming services for weekly cleaning and wants to keep me on long term basis. I am curious myself as to how this site works in terms of are the only ones that can respond, are they they ones that pay a subscription? Or can anyone respond to the posted jobs that needs a caregiver? It seems that I have applied for a multitude of posts, but no one ever seems to respond, and I know they MUST see that I've applied because I get their notifications showing my application in my messages. I am very curious to know if I would have to also pay a subscription in order to get a response from the jobs that I posted to? Or how exactly this site works? If I can only get responses from the ones that have paid a subscription fee, then why are the other posts even on here? I don't understand all the fine details of this site yet, I am too new, but I initially got on this site to try to generate some more housecleaning prospects, but I have applied to 25 "jobs" in approximately less than 1 months time, and only received 2 responses so the success ratio doesn't seem to be very high, but maybe I am just impatient? I don't quite get the concept of having to pay for job leads but this is a service site, so the admins have to make money somehow. Good luck to you, just give it a little time, hopefully you will start seeing some responses.
I can tell you many people who post never respond to me either. I have had many satisfied clients over the years and generally don't have an issue getting work, however, I think they are bombarded with applications when they post. Be patient and be quick to hop on an application. I've also asked my clients to post reviews and they forget to do that and I hate to keep asking. Point is, reviews help too.
I have only been active on the site for a week but I noticed there are a lot of members in my area. Pages full! Some haven't logged in awhile but they are stilling showing up so I would imagine for an individual seeking help it would be quite overwhelming to look through 100's of people. I think they shouldn't show the people who have not been active for awhile so the rest of us might be seen.
1. As usually it takes couple hours 2. Igues that everything is O.K.I'll try to do my best. 3. I prefer to discuss all questions with agent by phone.
Patience is key. It can be very competitive in certain areas. Always reply quickly when you do get a response. I'm not sure why but some of the people that are looking for help do not always respond to your application. In my experience with this site the application shows as delivered and when it is viewed but there are a lot of times my application shows delivered but hasn't even been viewed and then the job is now closed or the date they needed someone is now expired without them updating their information. They may be posting on other sites and failing to update their request here. Don't get discouraged just be patient and always do your best to keep your info updated and respond quickly even when the other party doesn't. Overall this site has worked well for me although it's not perfect. Best wishes!
I got a response within minutes. The next day I meet the lady and I was hired
When I first started I was living in New Jersey where there was more opportunity than where I am now. Even there it was tough to just get a response, let alone an actual job! It did happen, though. It just might now happen as fast as you'd like. Be sure you are offering as much info about yourself as possible and make sure you are applying for jobs you are actually qualified for. If they want someone with infant experience and you have none...don't apply. I also found it helpful to branch out of my immediate area. Sure, a job in my town would have been great. But to get work I had to branch out. When I did that, I found a great job with a great family. It is also good to remember that it is probably nothing personal. People looking for help will ultimately be bringing a stranger into their home whether it be to clean or care for a pet or child. They have to feel 100% comfortable starting at your profile. Make sure your photos and profile are professional but not stuffy. Be relaxed and, in time, it'll happen!
5 days to get responses. yes it is competitive out there but so is everything else. remember to do a good job and honest. do not underprice your work if you are doing good.
for every 30 applications it seems as though you may get one response. Hang in there, the business will come!
Yes I am anxious I know. But I'm very confident that this time is going to be right. I'm seeing several great jobs that are motivating me to want to move on.
It took me awhile everyday between my tasks I check for new jobs. I apply to the ones I can do. I've had interviews and I've been hired I quit one I care for 1 that is perfect, the other 3 went to another applicant. You lose some you gain some but don't give up Good Luck
the same with me!
As with many job seeking websites or services & "to hire" platforms, employers and job seekers alike must be thorough and careful in their search. Both parties are seeking a compatible match and as in so doing, the search will take time to find as close as possible a suitable match. Oftentimes, if the job is small or less risky, the search may not require as perfect a match, but where there are more particulars to a specific job, the match needs to be as close as possible. When first starting out, in order to gain credibility and experience, one should be open to fulfilling as many jobs (in/out of their geographic area) which they are capable of properly handling. By doing so, they can gain valuable experience and build their credibility on the site for more/better jobs in the future. One should also remain open to areas where more jobs are posted and accept jobs even out of their immediate area in order to gain a stronger foothold and presence in the market.
That is hard to say. I have been on here a while and still barely get responses. A lot of people it seems will post jobs and forget that they didn't take it off once they hired someone.
I am new it took me over five days to get a response .You just got to be Patience.
