I currently work at a school as a Paraeducator in the Special Education Department (now called Inclusive Education). I work with students who are many grade levels behind students at their age level. Last year I worked at a high school with a student in a wheelchair. She had severe learning delays and risky behaviors. My main priority was to help her with safety and personal care/hygiene. Also throughout the day, I designed lessons based on school curriculum to help her academic progress. As a result, her grades were raised by 2 letters in most subjects. Beginning in January 2011, I began as a substitute paraeducator with another school. Positions included English as a Second Language, Recess and office duty, ASC classrooms, and some SC. In March of 2011, I became a long term substitute for an elementary school. There I created lessons for 7 skill groups that raised student test scores. Beyond work in the school district, I am in a family with members who have both mental and emotional disabilities. I am familiar with some therapeutic methods.
