I have some experience helping with my special needs uncle. My nephew has ADHD and is autistic. I have babysat a few times for my friend's blind and autistic son, who is more creative and has more musicality than I do. He loves letting me do his photos and touches me when he doesn't let others do this. My grandmother had dementia and diabetes and I cared for her for 6 months. I collaborated with other support services to teach myself to do this.

While I was the supervisor of elections, I met Misty when she came to work for me in the elections department as an Elections Clerk. It will be a little difficult to do a short description of her working skills and talents that make her an exceptional worker. I believe that next to my wife in my personal life, Misty was one of the best things that happened in my working career. Misty would come into the office, taking immediate responsibilities including making herself accountable for the various task assigned to her within the Elections Department. She always worked diligently with minimum direction performing the many tasks within our office to learn as much as she could of each task with an enthusiasm I have not witnessed in many years as a supervisor. It was very encouraging to see Misty come into the office a few minutes early to start her computer. While the computer was booting up, she balanced the cash drawer in preparation for the business day. Misty had great people skills in addition to being an excellent listener to verbal and written directions. In addition, when working with the public, she was exceptional at listening to an issuer, she would ask for clarification when assisting a customer at the front counter, always making sure she understood the issue before she would act on a response or solution. Misty also had an excellent working relationship not only with her co-workers, but other Linn County Departments that could include the Governor's Office, the Secretary of State, in addition to employees for various departments within the courthouse, cities staff and any candidate filing for an elected office in Linn County. The Elections Department has a very good staff, but Misty has a genuine care for those she worked for and worked with. As I mentioned before, Misty has excellent people skills that she was able to quickly establishing an excellent working relationship with the diverse personalities of this office. It became evident to me of her adaptability and use of excellent judgment when interacting with the public and co-workers. Misty was regularly taking the time to research and educate herself in preparation of performing her assignments. As an example: as the election approached; she would start reading the Oregon Revised Statutes and the Oregon Administrative Rules on that particular election, what are the deadlines for filing different type documents to be filed, when did the crews for setting up the preparation of ballots, what was the mailing date of ballots along with what are the mailing deadlines, to mail and receive in the office for that ballot to count. In summary, Misty is a very motivational person, she has a remarkable learning abilities as well as being well organized. I sincerely believe from my working experience with Misty that she an excellent person to work with; she is dependable, very efficient and reliable and very intelligent. I would not hesitate to recommend her or to hire her myself for any position available. Misty would be an asset as a member of Care.com! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need anymore information. Best Regards, John
