I first experienced caring for a child with special needs when I was in high school. I took care of a nonverbal, 3-year-old boy in the mornings before school who was thought to have autism, but had not yet been given an official diagnosis. He is the reason why I decided to become a teacher and work in the special education field. I loved to watch his aide work with him and to see the work that he was doing. I have also worked with a boy who has asperger's and have experience with people who have hearing disabilities. I spent last semester working in a classroom with students with a wide range of special needs. I currently work as an Autism Interventionist with two different students.
