From a very early age, I have been around disabled and handicapped individuals of all ages. Growing up, my childhood best friend's younger sister was born paraplegic and becoming close with the family over the course of many years, I helped with her care giving (loading and unloading both her and her wheelchair, assisting with a catheter and changing clothes). After high school I lived with a family as a live in nanny of two young girls for 3 years. I was responsible for driving them to various extracurricular activities and appointments as well as preparing meals, cleaning house and helping with homework. I became very close with this family until this day. :) I also helped care for an infant who had down syndrome until he was six months of age. For a year and a half I cared for a 10-year-old boy with autism who lived with me part time and I took full care of (bathed, fed, dressed and changed diapers). I have a natural loving, nurturing quality to those who are in need of assistance and I enjoy helping others.
