I have known her for a number of years because she was a gracious and wonderful support to my father and me when he visited from Pittsburgh, Pa where he lived. My father, is now deceased, but he had a stroke in 2003 and visited me in North Andover several times a year until 2008. He was a holocaust survivor and also an immigrant to this country. When he visited me he stayed in a local hotel with handicapped accessible accommodations. At home he had a Lifeline beeper in the event of a fall or other problem when he was alone, but when he was here, it didn't work. So, ostensibly she stayed with him at night to make sure that he was safe. However, her presence became so much more than merely a safety measure. She took such a genuine interest in my father (who was a very interesting man) that they established a relationship of the soul. As Eastern European immigrants to America (50 years apart) she initiated numerous conversations with my father. The strong relationship and mutually gratifying friendship that resulted meant a great deal to all of us. She is committed to her community and to her education. She has supported numerous organizations. All of these organizations have benefited from her s dedication and effort. Her commitment to her education is exemplary. She plans to continue to pursue knowledge and additional degrees as her life permits. She is a dynamic engaged person who brings a capacity for enthusiasm and positive karma to everything and everyone she touches. She will say she is very fortunate. I will tell you that she makes her own fortune. She has experienced numerous challenges and difficulties, but she overcomes whatever limitations have the potential for derailing her hopes and dreams. She never loses sight of what is important, namely her hopes and dreams for herself and her family.
