I have 7+ years experience proving in-home ABA therapy for children with autism and over 9 years experience with children with special needs. I was trained by (and worked closely with) several BCBAs over the years. I worked with children aged 2-6 who ranged from mild to severe on the autism spectrum. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education at Northern Illinois University and hold an LBS I certification. I spent one year as an elementary teacher at Giant Steps, a therapeutic day school for children with a primary diagnosis of autism. My classroom at Giant Steps consisted of 8 students, 1st - 4th grade. These students ranged from mild to severe on the autism spectrum. I collaborated with a Speech-Language Pathologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Neurological Music Therapist, Board-Certified Behavior Analyst, and more on a daily basis to ensure my students' needs were being met. We used ABA techniques throughout each school day while implementing individual academic and behavioral programs. I enjoy working with children with special needs, particularly those with a diagnosis of autism. I firmly believe that all children, regardless of individual diagnoses, have the ability to learn and grow. I look forward to being a member of a team that implements an ABA program with integrity and enthusiasm.
