I'm an excellent caregiver seeking a long term commitment to become part of your family. My current resident care management position of almost 3 years will be ending soon. My salary and availability can be flexible for the right family and expectations of the position ($10-$30). I bring to the table a compassionate and dedicated attitude, a big heart, my own emergency back up care or secondary long term caregiver and a structured atmosphere. I encourage independence to promote self worth in my clients. To me it's not about what your loved one can't accomplish but how to encourage what they can. I consider myself adaptable, quick thinking and solution oriented. I've completed 3 years of college all in varying degrees of geriatric nursing and special needs care. I regularly transport clients to and from varying activities, outings and DR appointments. I'm skilled in transfers both physical and Hoyer (manual and electric). I've hands on experience with diabetes both insulin dependent and self regulated. I've hands on experience with wound care from simple skin tears to those requiring wound vacs., colostomy, g-tube, spoon feeding, bathing, dressing, cleaning, cooking and fall prevention. I have hands on experience and certification in medication management and distribution including B-12 injections and insulin. I also have hands on experience in Hospice situations and am proficient and adamant in providing dignified and peaceful end of life care. I was once a foster parent for the state of Illinois and currently am registered with the Illinois Healthcare Workers Registry, fingerprints and background check verifiable online. Collectively I've accumulated close to 13 years in special needs, childcare and overall companionship/mentor/Caregiver experience.
