In 2016, my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. My sister and I cared for her for over a year, assisting with her daily needs to ensure her comfort before she transitioned in 2017. After her passing, I believed my caregiving days were over until 2024, when a friend asked me to care for her godmother. This experience reignited my passion for helping vulnerable individuals by ensuring their safety, building meaningful relationships, and encouraging them to stay active. Recently, I've worked with clients who are bedbound, have dementia, are at risk of seizures, and have fall risks. I provide essential services similar to those I offered my grandmother while continuously developing new skills to enhance the care I provide. I recently had a very dear friend that was in need of a care giver. My dear friend and her wonderful friend met ShaMika S. She was chosen at the first meeting. Shay was the most attentive , caring, giving , and compassionate person. My friend immediately felt safe, cared for and peaceful in Shay’s care. Shay would be right there by her side and was with her until her last breath. Shay cried and said her goodbyes with love and affection and sat with my friend until the family arrived. Shamika S was a God send and was such a blessing to my dear friend during her last few weeks. Thank you ShaMika for caring and being with my sweet friend at the end of her earthly life.
