About Rebecca

As a published author and former teacher, I am passionate about literacy and children's literature, and I love getting kids outside and staying active. I provide a safe, empathetic, and calm presence. A sense of humor and fun are key in my interactions with children. I set clear, consistent boundaries and offer positive reinforcement. I have worked with children of all ages for over two decades. I've been a nanny for twin infants and a 3-year-old, a newborn through age one year, and a 4-year-old. I've tutored middle and high school students in English and have worked as a part-time childcare provider since I was a young adult. I taught college English for 14 years, and my first novel, Glassmusic, was shortlisted for the 2015 International Rubery Book Award. My poetry, creative nonfiction, and book reviews have appeared or are forthcoming in Hippocampus Magazine, The Norwegian American, Rattle, and elsewhere.
