About Malissa

I am a first-grade teacher in my 7th year of teaching. During my practice, I first build a rapport with students before delving into content. To assist with building relationships, I've volunteered for Home Works! a home-visit program, in hopes to bridge the gap of parental involvement, while solidifying a strong support system for children. I am a mother of 3; ages 15, 14, and 13. My son is autistic, which inspires me to incorporate stimulating/kinesthetic strategies into my teaching. To inform my practice, I'm currently pursuing my Masters of Education in Reading.
