I have been a paraprofessional for the last year working directly with autistic students in a semi contained classroom helping with behaviors and learning how to communicate their emotions/feelings. I am also the mother of a 9 yr old level 1 autistic boy with adhd and DMDD. Each child I have worked with is different and alike in different ways. I can say I used things from one child that helped another but didn't help as well. You have to work with every child as their own canvas and do what helps them and communicate and work together to their specific needs. I love these kids. They are so smart and diverse. Funny and quirky. When you get to know them they become apart of your heart.
