As a licensed foster parent, I cared for children with moderate Autism, a preemie with severely underdeveloped GI system as well as severe gastric reflux. I also cared for a 2-year-old who had developed an eating disorder due to abuse. As a nanny I have worked with two different children (two different families) with severe speech delays. In all of these situations, I learned so much more from the children. I learned focused time just speaking and doing focused exercise (whether is was physical, speech or emotional) with them and giving undivided attention as well as lots of praise. I helped each child improve and it was a true joy and amazement to me.
