I have recently completed my service as a volunteer live-in assistant for three private group homes with residents ranging from ages 23 to 65. As a house mom, I help the residents with their everyday tasks and plan and facilitate daily activities for the residents to ensure that they are have the best quality of life that we can provide. I also lived in India for a year at a boarding school for 150 deaf and disabled children where I taught classes, tutored, provided child care, and planned activities for the children. The relationships that I have developed with these beautiful people have inspired me to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy. The joy that I have experienced working with adults and children with special needs has truly inspired me and it is something I hope to continue to do the rest of my life.
