Experience: 10 yrs
I'm 68, retired teacher, former runner, current frequent walker. Starting Sept 1, 2013, I brought my 83 yr old mother to Texas from Florida to live with me and care for her. She had Alzheimer's and kidney cancer. I walked with her a bit, read to her, watched TV with her. Helped her to toilet and off. I cooked for her and cleaned. It was tremendously rewarding. I got to see first hand how difficult it is for families to be there 24 hrs. a day to help their loved one age gracefully and safely. I can pick you up at your home and take you to out patient surgery and wait for you there even if it takes 8 or more hours. I can then bring you back home. This includes caring for any pets you might have while you are in surgery or when you get back home. I can NOT do lifts nor transfers. I also can care for people with dementia. I can do overnights. And I can also be a companion to someone in a nursing home or care center. I charge $20 an hour.
Does a great job interacting with our mother who has dementia and engages her in appropriate physical and cognitive activities.
