I have worked as a direct support provider with children who have special needs, ages 1-18. As a direct support provider, I was responsible for providing respite which includes picking and dropping off youth, preparing dinner, doing activities and art projects with the youth at the center, and de-escalating conflict when necessary. I also provided behavioral health coaching which includes picking up a youth and participating in activities outside of the home to reach behavioral health treatment goals. Many treatment goals include improving social skills, teaching de-escalation techniques, helping to improve the family/relationship, teaching positive coping skills, and teaching independent living skills. I have knowledge and experience working with youth who exhibit: Aggressive Behaviors, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Common Behavioral Diagnosis, Challenging Home Environments, and Substance/Alcohol Abuse.
