I have been proving care for someone else other than myself since I was 12 years old. When I was 12 years old my dad had an accident that left him completely paralyzed. My family and I took full responsibility in all his care that needed 24 hrs attention. At a very young age I learned how to handle his breathing machine, suction a trach, bathe a completely immobile body, do grooming, transfers from bed to wheelchair, and wheelchair to bed. I am trained to work with urine catheters, g-tube, range of motion, skin sore care, bowel and bladder care. I have had a great privilege to adapt to a busy caregiving lifestyle, and since day one I am so thankful I was given the opportunity to know everything I know. In March of 2010 my dad passed away and at that point it was just my mom and I living at home with dad and so when he passed away I had to find myself a job to take care of my mom and I and I was blessed to find a great female to work with. She also is a quadriplegic and it made things so smooth to have the experience I have. I have been with her for more than 2 years now, and I enjoy my job, but I am interested in picking up a few evenings during the week with male or females.
