About Emily

Hello, I'm Emily! In May 2020, I graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with my graduate degree in Environmental Education. I graduated with my undergraduate degree from Winona State University in May 2017 with a degree in Nature-Based Recreation, Tourism and Therapeutic Recreation. My most recent position was for the Duluth Area Family YMCA as their KEY Zone Outdoors Coordinator. I developed an environmental education program that focuses on creating an intrinsic connection to nature using a variety of different theories, including; Self-Efficacy, Brain-Based Learning, Social Emotional Learning and Experiential Learning. KEY Zone Outdoors is an after school, environmental and outdoor activity based program that teaches children how to play in and appreciate the environment through weekly opportunities that offer positive nature-based experiences. Working in the school district gave me wonderful experiences working with many different populations.
