Throughout my nannying and caregiving career I have gained experience in a number of areas. Aside from my brother who has high functioning Asperger's, my first experience caring for a child with special needs was when I was at Franklin & Marshall College. I cared for a local family that had two children, an 8-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy. The boy was on the autism spectrum. He was non verbal and needed help with basic tasks (feeding, bathing, changing, bathroom assistance). From 2013-2015, I was a weekend live-in caretaker for a child with special needs. He had slight cognitive and significant physical impairments. I assisted with basic daily tasks (feeding, bathing, changing, bathroom assistance). I am starting graduate school in the fall at Columbia University for Speech-Language Pathology. I am looking for part-time or overnight work, preferably with special needs. I would love to talk to more about my experience and answer any questions.
