Experienced Special Needs Nanny
I've grown up in a family with many special needs children. My older sister has Downs Syndrome and is partially deaf. My older brother and one of my other younger brothers are cognitively impaired. My family is very diversified, and is passionate about reaching out to the handicapped community. My mother has started many groups and programs that specialize in working with the handicapped, and from a young age I've helped her out. Being interactive with people who have handicaps is a humbling and wonderful experience. They are the exact epitome of perfect love and innocence, even when they are hard to handle.

Summer Special Needs Care Giver!
Summer is supposed to be fun! With or without a disability, every child deserves a fun summer filled with meaningful activities and the opportunity to practice skills learned in the classroom out in the real world. For the past 10 or so years I have worked in various capacities with individuals with special needs. From working as a swim coach for individuals with varying physical and cognitive abilities to my current job as a high school special education teacher for individuals with autism, working with children with special needs is a calling and a passion, I have never thought of it as a "job". I am smart, creative, enthusiastic, and have a great sense of humor. I have patience and empathy and love to help students with all abilities become more independent, which is different person to person. At work I specialize in transition and social skills, helping my older students find meaningful opportunities for growth outside of school.

Kids With Special Needs, Need Special Attention
I have dealt with a lot of special needs children; that means they never want to do what they are told or they may be very behind in life skills and, of course, school. They have tantrums almost daily, but with training and rewards, the tantrums become less and less. I find ways to make learning fun because learning is more exciting when fun in involved. I like to take them to the park to burn off a lot of energy even in the winter when its cold outside.

Responsible College Student With Special Needs Care Experience
My older brother(20) is severely autistic. Growing up with him, I labeled myself the "big little sister" as I was constantly helping care for my brother. Additionally, I volunteered with his school for children with autism for a large majority of my life. I also babysat children on the spectrum, both from his school and my community.
