I have experience mentoring children and teens with all kinds of differences and special needs. For three summers I worked as a mentor and lead camp counselor at A Place To Be in Middleburg, VA, who's mission is to serve "People with autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy; Emotional Challenges of coping with bullying or self-esteem issues; people living with chronic illness such as Lyme disease and cancer and those who just need A Place To Be." At A Place To Be I have held one-on-one mentoring sessions with individuals with all the aforementioned labels. I have also been responsible for large groups of people age 10-23, and I had a blast! I have had a particularly good time with some lovely people with autism, but I love hanging out with anybody who is kind, funny, wacky, or can offer me a new perspective on life. At A Place To Be we did music therapy, acting, and art therapy. I am available to babysit, hang out, jam, or give beginner piano lessons to children or adults with physical, mental, or emotional challenges.

Delilah has been with our family for a short time, but quickly won our hearts! I have truly appreciated her dependability, flexibility, and positive attitude. My son has loved her willingness to play with him, their shared love of music, her creative and positive approaches to caring for him, and her genuine enjoyment of their time together. If I could, I would keep her forever! I would absolutely recommend Delilah, especially for her wonderful work with children with special needs. She is amazing!
