I just finished nursing school and passed my boards, and I have been applying for nursing jobs on the south shore. It has been several years since I've taken care of children, but I have always loved kids and I baby-sat my neighbors' children for years before moving away to college. In fact, I hope to become a pediatric nurse some day because I enjoy working with children so much. Although it's been awhile since I've taken care of children, I have very recent clinical experience from my two years in school. My training as a nurse has made me especially aware of the importance of food allergies and correctly giving children any medications they may be taking, as well as safety and injury treatments. I'm willing to devote myself entirely to whatever the children would like to do (within reason, of course) while I am taking care of them, whether they would like to stay home or go somewhere nearby. I can prepare meals and snacks and clean up any messes made during my time in the home. Given the state of the health care economy in the Boston area it may be awhile before I am able to find a nursing job. I'm hoping to find some short-term/temporary child-care opportunities around where I live. I've had the same part-time job for almost 9 years and I am still currently working there, but the job is very flexible and I am able to work it around other commitments I have. If everything goes well, I'd be willing to maintain a childcare job even after I begin working as a nurse.
