I grew up with a special needs brother that I cared for throughout his entire childhood. I worked as a para educator at a special needs school caring for children with a wide range of disabilities and personal care needs. I have worked as a respite provider for individual clients with special needs. I have experience with diapering different individuals, feeding individuals with varying feeding needs including g-tube feedings, handling varying seizure episodes as well as a wide degree of behavioral issues. My experience with the special needs population ranges from all degrees of disabilities, needs, and behaviors. I truly love this population and wouldn't choose any other field to work in. I am planning on continuing my graduate studies in Occupational Therapy to continue my work with the special needs population.
