Experienced Nanny Available Full Or Part Time
Hi there! My name is Ariana, I am 27 years old, and I adore working with children and families! I'm currently on extended hiatus from University (where I study Psychology and Music) and I work as a bicycle messenger. I'm looking to find part-time work as a caretaker. I began working as a nanny in Seattle 8+ years ago and I am ready for a new adventure. Maybe I'd be a good fit for your family!
I have a true passion for being around kids - helping them learn, grow, explore, and navigate the world around them. I hope to go into teaching or pediatrics one day, and am always excited to meet a new child I can bond with and learn from. I enjoy and have experience working with every age, infants to preteens. However, I am particularly partial to working with infants to 6-year-olds. As a caretaker, I consider myself to be nurturing but firm, consistent yet adaptable, engaging, and fun!
A little about my philosophy: Foremost, kids are people, too. I treat them with respect, yet hold them to standards appropriate for their age and disposition. I think of my role as someone meant to encourage independence and self expression, as well as respectfulness and kindness. I believe in lots of open communication and laughter. Furthermore, I love outdoor activities, including sports and exploration, reading, art and music, games, and imaginary play. My absolute favorite is bike riding. I believe in minimal screen time, especially for younger children, and am an engaged caretaker. I'm always looking for teaching moments through which to impart knowledge or demonstrate skills, because the more we interact with and communicate with children, the more confident and capable they become. For instance, I'm eager to discuss issues like kindness/bullying and taking care of our bodies and planet with kids- things that serve to encourage self-worth and social responsibility. Additionally, I believe in lots of silliness!
Some skills I've honed over the years include excellent time management, a knack for planning activities around nap and meal times, and the ability to communicate well with kids and parents. I have excellent negotiation skills, even with the feistiest 2-year-old. I'm fun and enthusiastic, yet comfortable being a disciplinarian when necessary. Additionally, I'm a good cook (with lots of ideas for healthy meals for any age) and an efficient housekeeper. I've worked with special needs children and multiples, including two sets of twins under 6.
I do NOT own a car but could drive yours if necessary. I'm available immediately, so if I seem like a possible candidate for your family, please contact me with additional questions. My availability is limited to early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!
