I recently cared for an elder with a spinal chord injury. She is bedridden and partially paralyzed, requiring bed bath and hoyer lift to her chair and help with eating. She will moved to a Nursing facility. Therefore, I am currently seeking another caregiver job immediately.. I also cared for an elder lady with cancer.... she recently went to Heaven. I cared for an elder female who had fallen and needed care 24/7. That position last approximately 6 weeks. I have experience caring for a 78-year-old elderly lady with Alzheimer's/Dementia and an 88-year-old male with Alzheimer's/dementia/diabetes/incontinent. I was employed at a local state owned nursing facility for 25+ years in various positions prior to retirement. In addition, I have raised 3 successful children and had the privilege of being the only babysitter for 2 of my 4 grandchildren. I was the primary caretaker for my 80-year-old mother who lived with me for 2 years. I'm very familiar with elderly care-giving, dementia and Alzheimer's. I retired from Delaware Hospital For The Chronically Ill in Smyrna after 18 years. Although I am not in the medical field, I learned a lot about care required for the elderly, as well as residents who were not bed-ridden. Compassion and patience are my best assets.
