This question is for a dentist, especially a periodontist. It is an important question, which is why it needs to be directed to a dental professional. CNA's, HHA's and caregivers are not legally permitted to comment on medical prognosis' outside their training and certification. Their training definitely includes knowledge of proper oral hygiene, gum care and being alert to specific conditions which require a call to a qualified medical professional. It does not include knowledge of gum disease prescriptions, nor should they prescribe. They may only implement a gum disease treatment plan per instruction from a dental professional.
