How to Protect Your Kids from the Sun This Summer

Summer has just begun and it’s almost 4th of July, so it’s normal for you and your kids to be out and about running around in the heat. While this can be a lot of fun and a great bonding experience for your family, you also want to make sure your children stay hydrated, are protected from the sun’s UV rays and safe from heat exhaustion. Today, we’re bringing you a few tips and tricks to safe summer play.

Have a water bottle on hand for your child at all times and make sure that they’re drinking consistently throughout the day. You can even add some lime, lemon, raspberry or watermelon to the water to give it a little bit of extra flavor.

Camelback

has some really cool water bottle designs for kids that they’ll love sporting.

Another great way to stay hydrated this summer is with popsicles. You can make healthy popsicles that are hydrating and refreshing right in the comfort of your own home. Check out some of these healthy popsicles:

Apply Sunscreen Regularly

Make sure to apply sunscreen before you start going out and playing in the sun and regularly throughout the day. Suggested Sunscreens

Badger

has incredible sunscreens that are all-natural, organic and are broad spectrum.

Alba Botanica

also has a great set of sunscreens that are 100% vegetarian with no animal testing and ultra-moisturizing to keep your child’s skin from drying out.

Don’t Be Afraid to Stay in the Shade

Shade is a good thing! Make sure you have plenty of opportunities to hang out in the shade, under a tree, or even under and umbrella. We recommend getting some sort of

sunshade

for whenever you’re at the beach (like the one below) to give you and your kids a nice play to hang out and take a break.

Another tip is to let your kids hang out under a

parasol

and carry it around with them wherever they go.
