Recently I find that I’m invited to one baby shower after the other, or that I’m involved in planning a baby shower. I have to admit, it’s one of my favorite things – I love figuring out all of the different decorations, food to match, and the games and prizes. In all of the time, I’ve been thinking about gifts. It’s hard to know what the best gifts are when it comes to my family and friends – so I spent some time asking around.
I went to all my friends and family who had babies and asked – okay, what are the essential items that you loved receiving and that were actually helpful and special. I thought I’d share this list with everyone here in case you were hunting for some baby shower gifts of your own. I’m going to do a second post on baby shower gifts for boys, but wanted to share my favorites for girls first.
Bath time can be difficult in the bathtub, but a few of my friends swear by blooming bath saying it makes it so much easier and more comfortable to keep baby clean.

Baby Bibs
You really can never have enough bibs for baby. You’ll find that they’re great to have around the house for food spills and also spit up.

I heard from different parents that they didn’t think about what they needed for the hospital enough, and it was nice to receive a basket of things to take with them for the hospital. The other thing is that more often than not, baby showers tend to focus on the mother – leaving the father left out, so it’s nice to include the daddy-to-be.

Diapers
One thing that parents always need and never want to run out of are diapers. My suggestion is to find out what diapers your friend or family member wants to use and create a fun diaper cake out of them. You can also host a “diaper drive” and get people to bring a packet of diapers.
