I have been working with children for more than 20 years. I am a Reading Specialist and Special Educator. I understand the reading process in all of its fine detail. I have worked with many special needs students who are on the Autism Spectrum, PDD-NOS, Language Delays, etc. I meet my students wherever they are academically, emotionally, socially and we go from there. I work at their pace, find and fill in gaps, and ensure that there is a lot of success along the way. I am patient and really enjoy getting to know my students and finding the pathways that let them learn and feel good about themselves. I have taught reading, social skills, and other subject areas as well as floor time type activities and communication and language experiences. I am currently certified in New York and New Jersey as a Teacher of Reading, Teacher of Students with Disabilities (Special Education) and Classroom Teacher. I hold a Masters degree in Literacy as well as graduate work in Special Education.
