As a full-time caregiver, I have spent the last two years working with individuals with both intellectual and physical disabilities gain more independence in their lives. Through this company, I have completed specialized trainings and gained experience working with age ranges from children to elderly adults with a wide variety of disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, ADHD, anxiety disorders, deafness, Schizophrenia, traumatic brain injuries, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and many others. Some examples of tasks I have helped others with are daily living activities such as walking, eating, cleaning, physical therapy, communication skills, assistance, medication administration, lifting/moving, practicing sign language and many others. One of the most rewarding parts of the job is watching my clients become more comfortable and confident in their skills, both while working with me and eventually putting them into practice on their own. As a former firefighter and emergency medical responder, I hold healthcare provider CPR certification, EMT licenses, and I have experience with successfully treating many different patients. Although I left the field after sustaining an injury, I have kept my licenses and certifications up to date through continuing education and classes. In the future, I would like to further my medical education in the physical therapy field. Should you be interested, I also have experience with cooking, cleaning, caring for animals, yard work, carpentry, landscaping, gardening and general maintenance, and would be comfortable performing these additional tasks should they be needed.
