I've been working with children and adults diagnosed with various mental and physical disorders/disabilities since 2007. I began my work in a group home setting caring for adults. I was then approached in 2008 with the opportunity to mentor and care for special needs children and teenagers in an after school program. In 2013, I became a teacher's assistant in a prekindergarten classroom, and I was responsible for shadowing two autistic children throughout their school days, as well as monitoring and caring for the other children in my classroom. I've found the most rewarding aspect of working with any child to be the opportunity to help them grow in a setting free of judgments or expectations. I've committed myself to having an unwavering patience and attentiveness to the individual needs of every child and adult in my care. I believe every person deserves to be listened to and heard, especially those incapable of speaking or expressing themselves verbally. I put my heart and soul into my work, and I will do everything in my power to ensure a safe, happy, and fulfilled life for everyone in my care. Every child deserves to dream and believe in themselves.
