In the summer of 2011, I worked for a camp in Moncure, NC. This camp is designed to serve people with Autism of all ages and functioning levels. I received extensive training before I began this job. It was an overnight camp, so I have experience with helping with all self-care needs. It was one of the most amazing summers I have ever experienced! Since then, I have been interning for an after school program designed to be accessible to kids on the autism spectrum. After one semester, I was asked to serve as Regional Coordinator, but still continued to have a lot of one-on-one time with the kids. I think that every child deserves to feel special and to have as much fun as they can and I strive to make that possible for them!
