I currently work as an Assistant Teacher at a Montessori school in the Saint Louis area. I have been with this school for three years; first as a day care teacher, and now as an assistant teacher with 24 first and third grade students! I love my job, and have always loved kids and loved teaching. For the past two summers I have been a nanny for two wonderful families. The first family has two boys ages 5 and 7, and the second family has three children ages 3, 6, and 8. I am currently finishing my associate degree in early childhood education. I plan on getting my bachelor's degree after that. I currently live in Edwardsville Illinois, but plan on moving back to the Peoria area at the end of May. I do not have a lot of experience caring for children with special needs, but I do have one little boy in my class with high functioning autism. Over the past year I have grown extremely close to him, and have considered going into special education because of him. I have also had a little experience with ADHD, and Down syndrome. I would love to get more experience in order to work with special needs children.
