Hello, my name is Kirstyn. I am 24 years old and have two younger brothers who are classified as special needs because of being born with a cleft lip and palate. Because of the large age gap, I have had the privilege to help my mother with both of my brothers while growing up. They are currently ages 12 and 13. The younger of the two also has educational delays. Therefore, I have learned from my home life a glimpse of what children deal with as a special needs child. I have learned as a sister to two younger brothers the patience and understanding required when dealing with special needs children. I come from a large family, and therefore have four sisters along with my two brothers previously mentioned. I have student taught in an inclusion classroom Fall 2013. I have graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and ESOL Endorsement.
