I am a child psychology major and absolutely adore children. Last summer I got a job at the Bridge Center, a summer camp for special needs children. The experience changed my life and I am constantly looking for more ways to work with special needs children. I had campers that ranged anywhere from 4 years old to 21 years old with disabilities ranging from ADHD to Cerebral Palsy to Autism. Our responsibilities as a counselor were to help the children with toileting, getting dressed, eating, help them to communicate, engage them in fun activities and basically care for them one-on-one throughout the duration of the camp day. I graduate from college next May and hope to become a PCA along with attending Graduate school.
