I am a trained and certified emergency medical technician (basic) which has provided me with above and beyond the necessary First Aid experience to care for special needs children. Also, in my experiences working as a camp counselor, and residential health supervisor. In my current position as an outdoor educator, I have worked with many children with mental and emotional special needs, including autism, Aspbergers, ADD/ADHD, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality cisorder, as well as children with special physical needs ranging from allergies requiring the use of an epi-pen, asthma, CP, and celiacs. I am a very firm believer that children with special needs should be treated with love, compassion and respect, and also given the boundaries needed in order to thrive and succeed in their everyday lives.
