My experience working with children began at a young age working with peers. I am the middle child in a family of five and my parents started me before middle school working in the nursery at a community church. My experience working with children with special needs began at the birth of my youngest brother. Diagnosed with intellectual disabilities and dyslexia among other disorders, me and my siblings learned to provide extra attention in providing for him. After one year of college, I moved from Morgan Hill, CA to New York City to work with at risk youth and international college students. I became trained in intervention for troubled children, such as single mothers and mentored youth who were at risk for drug, gang or family trouble issues. I also was responsible for helping international college students find ways of integrating into the local culture and society in New York City. I soon resumed my studies at the City University of New York. I double-majored in Psychology and Linguistics and emphasized Speech-language Pathology in my last year of studies. After moving back to the South Bay, I took a position working as a behavior therapist/skills tutor for children ages 3-14 years with autism spectrum disorder. After a year of experience working with special needs 1:1, I sought employment working as a behavior coach in San Jose Unified District Autism classroom. Working with an older age group of children in an academic classroom is giving me vital experience for my eventual return to graduate school to pursue a degree in Speech-Language Pathology this Fall. I also teach young children how to play soccer on Saturday mornings. I am looking for part-time care for a child with or without special needs beginning at the earliest at 2:45 p.m. I can provide my own transportation for myself and the children I care for. I can take care of multiple children if that is a need as well. Please do not refrain from emailing/calling (please leave a message if I do not answer/ or text. I will respond ASAP.
